Director Bharathi Raja welcome Suriya’s movie by releasing the film through OTT. starting that it is the right move for the current situation. Soorarai Pottru is scheduled to be streaming in Tamil and Telugu with the Telugu version titled as Aakasam Nee Haddhu Ra. A dubbing kannada version will also release.
The film is inspired by the life of Air Deccan founder G.R.Gopinath. The inspiring journey of captain G.R.Gopinath from an obscure village in Karnataka to a momentous career in the Indian Army and then to the founding of low cost airline, Air Deccan that revolutionised air travel in the country

Films release date, on 21 October 2020, Suriya announced that the flim will be postponed due to the delay over obtaining the NOC from the Indian Air Force the makers announced that the flim will be released on 12 November 2020, coinciding with the eve of Diwali festival.
